Organs, glands and over 7000 nerve endings connect to reflex points/areas on our feet. A combination of gentle massage and pressure to reflexes on our feet or hands stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system. A state of deep relaxation helps restore the body’s natural healthy balance and so has a positive effect on corresponding organs and body systems.
Reflexology is beneficial in relieving the symptoms of many health conditions. It is also used to complement radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments and to promote healing after surgery.
Various focused massage techniques e.g. remedial /deep tissue, acupressure, Indian Head, neuro-muscular, joint mobilisation and dynamic stretching promotes muscle and joint release to relieve tension and pain.
Massage increases the hormone serotonin and the neurotransmitter in the brain called dopamine; both of which play important roles in the regulation of everyday functions including mood sleep and learning. Cortisol, the primary stress hormone, is reduced and “feelgood” hormones are released - such as endorphins and encephalins - which positively affects our emotional wellbeing.
Our children and teenagers need additional support now more than ever. Reflexology can improve sleep patterns, reduce anxiety and panic attacks, depression, hyperactivity, mood swings, promote better appetite and calm inflamed skin conditions.
Reflexology helps to balance hormones and the process of regular ovulation and fertilisation. During pregnancy (from 14 weeks), Reflexology and Massage Therapy help the body adjust to physical and hormonal changes and assists lymphatic drainage and from week 37 helps the body prepare for birth.
Post-natal Reflexology helps to rebalance the hormones and can help with the initial anxiety of early motherhood.
The ancient Japanese form of Usui Reiki healing is emotionally powerful and safe for all ages. Deeply relaxing, it allows you to tap into an unlimited supply of “universal life force energy” and good intention that flows from the Therapist’s hands.
Received through clothes, Reiki helps to balance your energy centres or “chakras” and discard emotions that no longer serve you. It helps to promote clarity, energy, positivity and focus. This in turn leads to improved physical wellbeing.
Aromatherapy is the controlled use of volatile essential oils; naturally present in numerous botanical sources to protect them against pathogens.
Essential oils are often described as medicine because they contain natural evolving chemicals that provide anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-spasmodic, analgesic and anti inflammatory therapeutic benefits.
When massaged into the skin, essential oils enter our blood stream and benefit our body systems and promote wellbeing through our brain’s olfactory reaction to their wonderful aromas.
